About the program

    During startup Windows 95/98 runs many programs and services. You may even don't know about it, but they take the memory as well as processor's time. Moreover they can cause the system's stability lose. You can turn them off, but it's uncomfortable. You can get rid of them, but sometimes you need their services. Now there is WSM to solve your problems. It will allow you to create "profiles" containing any autostart elements and every other program or document. During system startup just choose the profile you want, and that's is. Many programs will like the possibility of running them on a clean system what, on common system, can give you 6 MB more memory ! But that's not all ! WSM allows you to run any program as the ONLY process on the system (even without Explorer or any other shell) what can give you even more then 10 MB and much higher stability. This option is a "must have" for any PC gamer.

About KPS

    KPS allows you to control what application your kids can run. You can create a list of programs. If KPS is enabled a password dialog will appear
during startup. If the user don't know the KPS password, he/she will be only able to run one program from the list. The program will be run on a clean system (without shell) so it will be impossible to run anything else.
    You can also set the system password. Without it it will be even impossible to run anything from KPS list.

About System Access Monitor

    SAM registers date/time, profile selected and/or applications started during each system startup. You can review log file using WSM or any text viewer (log file is c:\wsm.log)

Using WSM

--- INSTALLATION ---
    Just unpack the archive to your HDD and run WSM.EXE. It will create a shortcut on your desktop and a Programs/Windows Startup Manager group. An uninstall option will be put there.

--- RUNNING ---
    WSM is a system of two applications. One of them is WSM.EXE - use it to create and manage profiles and system configuration. The second module starts automatically during Windows startup.

--- DURING SYSTEM STARTUP ---
    During Windows startup a menu will appear. Then you can choose the profile. There are three predefined profiles:
WINDOWS DEFAULT - it contains all startup elements
CLEAN SYSTEM - it runs only system shell
RUN APPLICATIONS - it runs programs and/or documents. It is possible without loading system shell. (see: "Quick start" list)

    If the startup control is active and there is no action for a set number of seconds the default profile will be runed.

    You can select the profile using mouse or cursors and run it with double click, ENTER button or by pressing the START button.

    If you choose the RUN APPLICATIONS profile ADVANCED button will become active. Use it to select programs and documents to be run on a clean or "SHELL-less" system.
PLEASE NOTE: EXIT_WSM.exe program displays EXIT button  in the left buttom of the screen. By pressing it you can close the system. You can add this program to Quick Start list so you will be able to close system in convinient way. You can also use Ctrl+Alt+Del to display system menu.

Shareware restrictions

This software will run as the full version within 15 days since first run. After 15 days during startup you will be noticed that your trial time will have expired. Whatever you will do the "Windows default" profile will be run.

Moreover:
- the nag screen will appear sometimes during startup
- you can access WSM.EXE without password
